118-016 Lord Bhairava thangka in brocade

     This magnificent thangka depicts Lord Bhairava, the wrathful aspect of Lord Shiva, he is the ferocious protector of the Dharma in the Hindu pantheon. Rendered in the Newari style of thangka painting by the great Nepali artist, Basu Lama. This image will be found outside the Shakti Pitha sacred pilgrimage sites in Kathmandu, where he is worshiped and revered. Meditating upon this image removes obstacles and adversity in one's life and protects one from poverty and disease. This spiritual deity is supremely powerful and uniquely responsive to those in dire need. This is a strikingly beautiful traditional rendition of this deity.
