114-011 Filigree Comb with Bird Motifs from Lampung

This comb is interesting for the way it combines tribal and classical motifs. The classical motifs are manifest in the profusion of floral patterns using the filigree technique borrowed from the Chinese and Muslims in other parts of Sumatra. Birds, a universal tribal symbol of the upper world in Indonesia, surmount the top of the comb.
