This brass ornament is worn as a earring. It depicts a curled up aso (dragon). The curvilinear form of the aso also appears in earrings made of hornbill casque and on a much larger scale in the entrances of the living quarters of Dayak aristocrats. The earring is currently secured to a separate cord for use as a pendant (the cord is not included).
