118-003 Rare Cambodian 'Samphot Hol Kaban' temple sarong

This is a rare Cambodian 'Samphot Hol Kaban' temple sarong. This textile was woven before the 'Pol Pot' regime. It is not a 'revivalist' modern copy. This is an original, genuine, antique woven from the finest 'yellow' silk thread. This is a 'Mudmee Ikat' textile made with all natural, organic, dyes. Finding these textiles in excellent, like new, condition is exceptionally rare. This is a museum quality piece. It was acquired from the private collection of a previous governor of the Chiang Ma province of Thailand. He acquired it during the initial exodus of wealthy Cambodians, to Thailand, from the Pol Pot holocaust. This piece is a spectacular example of the pinnacle in weaving arts of the Cambodian culture. It is indeed an Asian textile treasure.
