118-022 Nepalese Pure Silver Green Tara Statue

I have worked with painters and sculptors, in the Kathmandu Valley, for decades. In 1990, when the price of silver was sinking to $4 an ounce. I commissioned a master sculptor, in Patan, to make me several statues from the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon out of pure silver. Other sculptors saw his work and copied it, making far more inexpensive items for the local tourist market, but, nothing as elegant as my sculptor's work. These high-quality pieces have become very rare and collectable and have appreciated greatly in value. With silver at $23 an ounce, they will never be made again. These pieces represent the finest quality from that period of silver statue production from the Kathmandu Valley.
This piece is of Green Tara. She is a Hindu and Buddhist deity. Green Tara is the 'Liberator or Saviouress' Goddess. She is the principle female bodhisattva of Compassion and the mother of all the Buddhas. She protects all beings from the eight great fears of samsara or cyclic existence. Green Tara is a peaceful, attractive, youthful, sixteen-year-old girl who beckons all sentient beings to explore the riches of pure consciousness and Emptiness. Green Tara is the embodiment of healing and forgiveness. Green Tara chose to be the doorway through which we can all overcome our suffering and discontentment. This is a beautiful rendering of Her sacred form.
