118-030 Rare Antique Thai Green 'Mudmee Ikat' Pa Sin Sarong

This is an antique Thai 'Mudmee Ikat' single piece, all silk 'Pa Sin' woman's sarong. It was made with all natural dyes This sarong is unique in that it is green. Green is a very rare natural dye used in vintage Thai sarong weaving. The organic substances of 'indigofeta tinctoria' and 'oroxylum indicum' tree bark and wood are used to make this dye. These substances have become quite rare.
The geometric design of the sarong's pattern utilizes the Thai motif called 'Kha Beah' which is a variation on the diamond design. This sarong has been washed several times, which has added to the tie-dye effect, where the primary thread colors have bled and blended in the aging process of the textile. It creates a very sensuous appearance.
This is a rare collectors piece. I have hundreds of these sarongs in my collection, which I have collected for over forty years. I only have a few green ones. They are very rare items to come across.
