118-034 Rare Antique Thai 'Mudmee Ikat' natural silk 'Pa Sin' woman's sarong- bold pattern

This vintage 'Mudmee Ikat' Thai Esarn, two piece, silk and cotton 'Pa Sin' woman's sarong exhibits a highly complex, bold, geometric design. This piece incorporates several motifs, the diamond, the cross, the zig-zag and the lozenge patterns. This level of design complexity required a considerable amount of time to complete. It is beautifully rendered in a rare deep raisin/purple color scheme. The large, light crimson colored, woven, natural cotton waist band contains lined silk thread embroidery. The 'Pa Sin' pure silk main body of the sarong has the typically bold pattern style from the Esarn region of Thailand. This is a bold, magnificent, example of the skill of Thai weavers. All handwoven and hand-dyed, using all natural dyes. This is a textile treasure from the past. It's rare to get textiles like this, today, in 'like new' condition.
